In 2010 Windrush is open Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sundays for catch and release fly fishing
from April 10 to June 27th . The cost is $45 per angler per day.
If you choose to keep a few we charge
$5.50 per pound on top of the daily fee.
Cabins are $110/night. We prefer our guests to fish
with single hook flies
and jigs made from feathers or fur.
Reservations are necessary and can only be made by contacting us at windrushtroutstream@gmail.com
Thank you and we hope you can make it down to fish in 2010.
Welcome to WindRush Farms trout stream. We are a family owned, family oriented, fishing resort located in the foothills of the Missouri Ozarks. That is about a 2 hour drive Southwest of St. Louis down Interstate 44, or , old Route 66 if you prefer. There is a MAP elsewhere on this site. We have been open to the public since 1987, and we hope that you will come and fish with us.
The pretty girl with the pretty fish is my
wife Cicely. She caught that trout on a size 18 Griffith's Gnat.
At the time it was the biggest Rainbow she'd ever caught on a dry fly. Just
a shade over four pounds. Its a Shasta strain female, and no we don't stock
them that big. We figure that fish had been down in the creek about three
years. Our stockers average twelve to fourteen inches in length.
My name is Quint. I am the narrator and
the stream keeper. We have about two miles of stream that we have been working
on. As with all wildlife management that breaks out into the big three of habitat;
food, space, and cover. In that sense trout are like deer are like quail are
like us. Except with trout there is a fourth dimension. One of my favorite outdoor
writers, Robert Travers, defined that dimension best when he said that the reason
he liked to fish for trout was because they live in such beautiful places. Come
check us out.
